FDA lessons at Mugello
Today, the first of two days of training for Ferrari Driver Academy took place on the newly resurfaced Mugello circuit. Jules Bianchi and Davide Rigon drove the F60 Formula 1 car that Scuderia Ferrari Marlboro campaigned in 2009.
Bianchi’s programme focussed on preparation for the GP2 race of the season, which takes place at Istanbul on 8th May as part of the Turkish Formula 1 Grand Prix weekend. The Frenchman found driving on the five kilometre track where innovative technology and safety measures are perfectly combined was both exciting and very instructive. “We chose Mugello for this course because, with its climbs and descents, its long straights and its particularly demanding corners, it offers plenty of opportunities to learn in a safe environment,” explained Luca Baldisserri, the head of the programme.
Bianchi enjoyed tackling such a technical and at the same time enjoyable track, saying that “it stretches you when you drive it, providing plenty of tips for improvement.”
